As Tilbrook recalls, “I had been intimidated by the amount of praise we got. I’d sit down to write and be conscious of the fact that so many people had said we were great songwriters, so what we were going to do now had to be a great song. Once you get self-conscious it all goes totally wrong. It took me a while to get over that and rely on the best thing, which is instinct.” |
