“In 1976, after some abortive recording work Gunn left to be replaced by drummer, Gilson Lavis - a widely travelled musician who has worked behind Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. He knew a promising young band when he heard one and he sacrificed a lucrative ‘session man’ career to throw his hat in with these crazy South Londoners. At this point, it became evident that a pwerhouse drummer of Gilson’s capabilities was exactly what Squeeze needed to balance out the versatile ‘front’ line-up. The group continued to write, rehearse, record demos and play live wherever possible.”
