The White Fence is the project of ex-Squeeze bass player Keith Wilkinson and guitarist Anthony Wimshurst. The friends had been members of the 70s band Nasty Pop who made two albums on Island Records. Keith was a long time member of Squeeze and Anthony worked with musicians as diverse as Velvet Underground's Nico and Tasmin Archer.
Vocals on the album are by Nick Watkinson formerly of The Jags who hit the charts with his composition 'I've Got Your Number (Written On the Back of My Hand)'. The album also features top session pedal steel player Melvyn Duffy and Des Garrett on drums and percussion.
